August, 2012

August 7, 2012

We kicked off the month of August by going to Pace to visit the Chick-Fil-A store to support them on their stand for the family. The restaurant was packed beyond anything I've ever seen. The line for the checkout went around the lobby at least two complete times and snaked all around so that there was standing room only. Very interesting to say the least.

Saturday marked the first annual Lost Arts Theatre Arts Festival in East Brewton. The girls ran the dunking booth and I sold tickets. It was a long day!

My cousin's father passed away on Thursday, and the home-going service was on Sunday, so Kat and I made the trip to Chattahoochee to attend. Mr. B was such a wonderful and Godly man and will be very much missed!

We brought my cousin's daughter, Kaitlyn, home with us to spend the week. The girls have been having a blast so far. Kaitlyn works for a company that does face painting, among other things. She showed off some of her skills by painting the girls' faces.

We also went fishing in the evening. The girls caught three nice catfish!

Daddy had his second complete knee replacement surgery on the 6th, and as of this writing, is doing very well. He is expected to come home on the 9th if all continues to go well.

The Venturing Crew went canoeing over the weekend of the 4-6th. More crew activities are planned for this month, so watch this space!

I know this update has been rather dull. Hopefully the next one will be more interesting!

August 6, 2012

WOW! I see that I haven't updated this page in nearly a year. My last post concerned events in September of 2011. Needless to say, a lot has happened since then! I won't attempt to catch up on the entire past year, however.

We are enjoying the slower pace of post-camp summer. We have very little on our calendar, and are happy to keep it that way. Daddy is scheduled to have surgery on the 6th of August, and we want to be available to help my parents in any way that we can during his recovery period.

Both girls are involved in theater. In May they were in our Homeschool production of "Greasy the Robber". (Please see my Facebook albums for pictures from that production.) Both girl also participated in the Missoula Children's Theater production of The Secret Garden in February. (Those pictures are also available on Facebook. In fact ALL of my pictures are available on Facebook.) There are several opportunities coming up in the theater world, and the girls will have to choose which audition to attend.. More on that later, hopefully!

Nathaniel worked at STSR for the 6th time consecutively this summer. He worked waterfront and did an amazing job. He also got an amazing tan. Katherine (AKA Kat, AKA Katnip) worked her first summer as a paid employee of the Girl Scout Camp in Citronell. She has gone to camp there since she was a small girl, and has worked her way up in the leadership programs until this year she finally got to work as a Real Counselor. I also worked the full summer at Camp Scoutshire Woods. I have worked at Scoutshire every year since 2008, except for last year, though I only worked the full four weeks in 2008 and 2012. We were blessed with very nice weather except for the last week, when it was unbearably hot. We were just thankful that the other three weeks were so pleasant!

Savannah is working her fourth year at Philmont Scout Ranch. As always, she's loving it and doing a great job. I can hardly believe she'll be 22 later this month!

I 'plan' to update this whole website in the next month. We'll see how that goes! Until then, have a blessed rest-of-the-summer!
